PROREKA HOPES TO SEAL DEAL WITH JAPANESE COMPANY

From Amer Hamzah Md Sap
YOKOHAMA (Bernama) - Proreka (M) Sdn Bhd, a provider of one-stop
centre for automotive parts and components, hopes to finalise a business deal
worth about RM1 million with a Japanese three-wheeler producer, PHIARO, in
two or three months.

Its Head of Sales for Domestic and Overseas Market Hasnul Raduan said the
deal had been achieved through its participation in the Malaysia Automotive
Industry Exhibition (MAIE), which was held concurrently with the Automotive
Engineering Exposition (AEE) here last year.

“We have also brought the company to participate in the Kuala Lumpur
International Motor Show in December last year and in January this year, we
received their invitation to quote for its three-wheeler model,” he told Bernama
on the sidelines of the AEE here Wednesday.

“We have undergone tooling product development and hope to finalise the
deal in two or three months,” he said, adding that the company’s participation
in the MAIE last year was a success.

“As you can see, it is not easy to close a deal in this industry, it is
time-consuming as it takes about seven to eight months to close a deal in this
industry,” he said.

Encouraged by its success in last year’s participation, he said Proreka
had come here to participate in this year’s exhibition with new products to
attract Japanese automotive makers.

“We are bringing two products called – super charger and cyclone – to
increase the speed performance of vehicles to suit Japan’s customisation
market,” he said.

Meanwhile, Proreka Chief Executive Officer Yong Nam Yun said that besides
increasing the speed of vehicles, the super charger and cyclone could also help
motorists save petrol.

He said the national car maker, Proton, planned to launch the usage of the
product into all their car models very soon.

This year’s MAIE is being held concurrently with AEE at the Pacifico
Yokohama Exhibition Hall here for three days beginning Wednesday.

Proreka, with a workforce of about 240, has four plants in Malaysia involved
in various activities such as injections, blow moulding, vacuum foaming and
fibre glass.

It has a 51 per cent Bumiputera shareholding and 49 per cent Malaysians of
non-Bumiputera interest.
