Ahmadinejad's Special Envoy Conveys Message to Qatari Amir

TEHRAN, May 18 (FNA)- Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister for Middle-East and Common Wealth Affairs Mohammad Reza Sheibani submitted President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad's message to Qatari Amir Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al-Thani in Doha on Tuesday.
During the meeting, Sheibani, who is in Doha as President Ahmadinejad's special envoy, stressed the necessity for convergence among the Islamic states and further consultations among them to ensure peace in the region.

Sheibani expressed the hope that continued consultation among Iranian and Qatari officials would result in stabilization of peace and security throughout the region.

He further stressed Tehran's resolve to develop all-out ties with Qatar, and called for using the two countries' bilateral ties as a platform to help resolve certain problems in the region.

Sheikh Hamad, for his part, lauded Iran's stance on the recent developments in the Arab world and Tehran's support for popular movements in the region, and voiced hope for a stronger atmosphere of friendship among the regional states and a settlement of the existing problems.

Earlier this month, Iranian Foreign Minister Ali Akbar Salehi, heading a high-ranking delegation, paid a visit to Doha.

He met with Qatari Amir Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al-Thani to discuss bilateral ties, regional developments and other issues of mutual interest.

Iran and Qatar have recently augmented efforts to further expand ties and cooperation in all the different political, economic, defense and security fields.

The two Persian Gulf littoral states recently signed several protocols to increase mutual cooperation, specially in different areas of security.
