Envoy Urges Broadening of Iran-Afghanistan Trade Ties

TEHRAN (FNA)- Kabul's envoy to Tehran met with traders and officials of Iran's Northern Qazvin province to explore avenues for the further expansion of trade ties and exchanges between the two sides.
At the meeting, Afghan Ambassador to Iran Obaidollah Obaid called for the expansion of trade and economic relations between the two sides, and said, "Expansion of the trade relations between Iran and Afghanistan is one of my goals in this (ambassadorial) post."

He further pointed out that expanded trade ties between Iran and his country would help deepen and develop the two countries' political and social relations.

The envoy said he decided to visit Qazvin province in a bid to study its abundant trade potentials and capacities.

Iran and Afghanistan enjoy expanding ties and cooperation and observers believe that the good achievements gained in area of their mutual cooperation should be deemed as a result of the efforts made by the two countries' leaders.

Earlier this month, Iranian Minister of Economic Affairs and Finance Seyed Shamseddin Hosseini described the relations between Iran and Afghanistan as "exemplary", and stressed the two neighboring states' resolve to boost bilateral ties.

Speaking at a meeting with a customs delegation from Afghanistan in Iran's Northeastern city of Taybad, Hosseini stated that Iran and Afghanistan have exemplary relations and both countries are willing to expand their ties in the coming years.

"We believe that friendly ties with Afghanistan is based on human values rather than having a materialistic nature," the Iranian minister stressed.

He further noted that Iran's stable economy has created a favorable situation for its neighbors, including Afghanistan to engage in trade exchanges with Iran.
