Iran Proposes Establishment of Int'l Petrochemical Club

TEHRAN (FNA)- Senior Iranian oil officials on Saturday offered a proposal for the establishment of a world center or association to discuss and work out well-coordinated strategies and macro-scale policies for the petrochemical industries.
Addressing the 9th Iran Petrochemical Forum today, Managing-Director of Iran's National Petrochemical Company Abdolhossein Bayat underlined the importance of such an association for adopting harmonious policies and drafting and exercising macro-scale plans.
"I hereby announce in this forum that the Islamic Republic of Iran proposes establishment of an international petrochemical association to adopt macro-scale policies and do planning for this industry and secure the interests of those who have a stake in this industry," Bayat added.
More than 110 participants from 25 major petrochemical companies are attending the 9th Iran Petrochemical Forum from May 21 to 22.
Secretary of the forum Ramezan Oladi, who is also the National Iranian Petrochemical Company (NIPC) Planning Manager, said last week that officials from 43 countries, including Germany, France, Italy, India, Greece, Japan, South Africa, Saudi Arabia, Brazil, China, South Korea, Turkey, Switzerland, Britain, and Singapore, would be present in the event.
The official noted that 840 experts from 260 Iranian firms would attend the meeting.
Iran has expanded the range and volume of its petrochemical products significantly over the past few years, and the NIPC is the second largest producer and exporter of petrochemicals in the Middle-East.
