Iran: US Era Ending with Regional Uprisings

TEHRAN (FNA)- Iran's Supreme National Security Council (SNSC) Secretary Saeed Jalili said growing popular uprisings in the Middle-East and North Africa have accelerated demise of the United States and Washington is seeking to stop this trend through every possible means.
"Islamic awakening has created a deadlock for the US. The US is the major loser in regional developments and it is locked in the quagmire of supporting Zionist regime and dictatorial systems, including Mubarak and bin Ali for years and it cannot get rid of the situation through contradiction and deception," Jalili noted on Friday.

"Distress, contradiction and deception are fully clear in Obama's recent remarks," he added, referring to the US president's Thursday night comments.

"The US has chosen to resort to the policy of deception and deviation since it has faced the true demands of the regional nations," the Iranian top security official said.

"The US should know that all lands of Palestine belong to Palestinians. This is the public demand of regional nation."

Jalili also criticized the US President's fervent support for the criminal Israeli regime.

Obama in his 45-minute speech on Thursday claimed Palestinian-Zionist regime's borders should be defined based on 1967 borders and that recognizing the borders is necessary for the formation of the two states.

He also reiterated that Palestinians should have the right to run their own country.
