MALAYSIA'S PEMANDU TO STUDY WORLD COMPETITIVENESS YEARBOOK TO CORRECT WEAKNESSES
KUALA LUMPUR, May 21 (Bernama) -- Malaysia's Performance Management and
Delivery Unit (Pemandu) will study the areas and weaknesses that need to be
improved to ensure Malaysia remains competitive going forward.
Its chief executive officer, Senator Idris Jala, said the best way for the
unit to take action at the moment was to study the World Competitiveness
Yearbook 2011 Report issued by the Institute for Management Development and find
ways to improve.
"We just got the report. Next week, we will spend time analysing the
details," he told reporters after delivering his keynote address at the seminar
on "How You Can Participate and Benefit from the Economic Transformation
Programme" organised by the Associated Chinese Chambers of Commerce and Industry
of Malaysia here Saturday.
The Report showed that Malaysia ranked 16th from 10th last year, among 59
economies.
Going forward, Idris said he was positive about the country's economic
performance.
"The implementation of the Economic Transformation Programme would boost the
economic activities in the country," he said.
On the subsidy rationalisation programme, Idris said the government was
still reviewing the matter.
