Pakistani Politician Blasts NATO Choppers' Attack on Pakistan

TEHRAN (FNA)- A prominent Pakistani politician Sunday strongly criticized the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) for its choppers' attack on Pakistani troops, and said the move means a humiliation and disrespect for the relevant Pakistani parliament approvals.
Two NATO helicopters violated Pakistan's airspace at Admi Kot post in North Waziristan Agency in early hours of Tuesday morning and the troops stationed at the post fired at the intruding helicopters and, as a result of exchange of fire, two of Pakistan Army soldiers received injuries.
Tuesday's attack took place in Wacha Bibi, 50 kilometers west of Miranshah, the main town in North Waziristan's tribal district, officials said.
Speaking to FNA, Naib Amir (deputy head) of Pakistan's Jamaat-e-Islami Ghafoor Ahmed said that the attack was an insult to the Pakistani parliament's approval and a resolution which condemned the US and NATO attacks.
He lashed out at the Pakistani officials for keeping mum about the incident, and said since the US hunt down Al-Qaeda Leader Osama bin Laden, the Pakistani rulers have kept quiet and this silence has undermined Pakistan's sovereignty and independence.
Officials and political figures as well as the people in Pakistan are all furious at the NATO and the US drone attacks on their country.
The US drone attacks have escalated in Northwestern Pakistan since President Barack Obama took office. More than 100 raids were reported in the area last year.
The drone attacks arouse deep and broad anger within the Pakistani population against both the US and the Pakistani government.
Many Pakistani politicians and former officials have blasted the Islamabad government for its weak stances against the US and its drone attacks on innocent Pakistani people.
