RECORD TOTAL TRADE BETWEEN MALAYSIA AND GUANGXI PROVINCE IN 2010
KUALA LUMPUR, May 23 (Bernama) -- Total trade between Malaysia and China's Guangxi Province, reached a record US$260 million last year.
This made Malaysia, Guangxi's fourth largest business partner, among Asean countries.
Malaysian products exported to Guangxi included palm oil, petroleum, bitumen, mineral and chemical products.
Imports from Guangxi were paper pulp, papers, soy oil waste, textile products, fertiliser and electrical products.
"Until 2010, there were 13 companies from Guangxi in Malaysia with total investments of US$16 million, mainly in mineral products, trading and services," said the Director, Division of Foreign Trade, Department of Commerce of Guangxi, Zhang Siqi.
He was speaking at a press conference to promote the 2011 China Guangxi Products Exhibition here Monday.The event will be held at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre (KLCC) from May 26-28.
Zhang said there were 104 Malaysia investors in Guangxi with a total investment of US$700 million in several industries with the focus on, among others, manufacturing, transportation and storage.
Meanwhile, the 2011 China Guangxi Products Exhibition is organised by the Department of Commerce of Guangxi Province and ES event Management Sdn Bhd.
The exhibition is aimed at increasing imports of products from Guangxi by Malaysia. At the same time, it is also to give Malaysia an advantage in exports to the province as well as investment opportunities there.
