DM: UAE's Membership in NATO Undermines Regional Peace
TEHRAN (FNA)- Iran's Defense Minister Brigadier General Ahmad Vahidi warned against destabilizing moves in the region, saying that the United Arab Emirates' recent efforts to join the NATO jeopardizes peace in the Mideast as it would provide an excuse for alien forces to deploy in the region.
Vahidi said the UAE's recent efforts to join the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) strengthen the presence of foreign troops in the region.
"The administration of peace in the Middle East region will only be realized when the United States is no longer present in the region," Vahidi added.
"The United States and Western countries try to turn the region into a weapons depot yet they question any action taken by the Islamic Republic of Iran through their negative propaganda," he noted.
Iran has announced time and again that "deterrence" lies at the heart of its defense doctrine, and that its military might poses no threat, whatsoever, to other countries.
