Iran Calls on EU to Drop Blind Obedience to US

TEHRAN (FNA)- Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesman Ramin Mehman-Parast lashed out at the European Union for its blind obedience to Washington's wrong policies towards Iran.
In new round of anti-Iran moves, the European Union added more than 100 firms to a blacklist of companies hit by an assets freeze.
In reply, Mehman-Parast told reporters in his weekly press conference here o Tuesday that European states should feel more considerate towards their people's interests and avoid following the US policies blindly.
The United States on Monday welcomed Europe's move in expanding its sanctions on Iran.
The newly adopted restrictive measures placed a number of additional names on the lists of persons and entities subject to EU sanctions, including travel restrictions and assets freeze. About 100 new entities related with the Iranian authorities were added to the EU sanctions list, said an EU senior diplomat.
The EU and the United States have slapped unilateral sanctions on Iran on top of four sets of punitive measures imposed by the UN Security Council.
Tehran says sanctions and pressures merely consolidate Iranians' national resolve to continue the path.
Iranian officials however have underlined that West would be the main loser of its sanctions policy against Tehran.
On Monday, Head of the parliament's National Security and Foreign Policy Commission Alaeddin Boroujerdi said that Americans and Westerners are aware that those who impose sanctions would be the major losers.
Following US pressures on companies to stop business with Tehran, many western companies decided to do a balancing act. They tried to maintain their presence in Iran, which is rich in oil and gas, but not getting into big deals that could endanger their interests in the US.
Yet, after oil giants in the West witnessed that their absence in big deals has provided Chinese, Indian and Russian companies with excellent opportunities to sign up to an increasing number of energy projects and earn billions of dollars, they started showing increasing interest to invest or expand work in Iran.
