Azeri President Satisfied with Rapid Development of Cooperation with Iran
TEHRAN (FNA)- Azeri President Ilham Aliyev in a meeting with Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister Mohammad Reza Raouf Sheibani in Baku expressed pleasure in the accelerated development of mutual cooperation between the two countries.
During the meeting, Aliyev referred to the strong political relations between the two countries, and said Iran and Turkmenistan's economic ties are also growing on the basis of the existing agreements.
He also underlined that reinvigorating the two countries' mutual cooperation on regional issues is highly important and required.
Aliyev further noted his frequent meetings with Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, and said his friendly ties with the Iranian President have had positive effects on the expansion of friendly and brotherly relations between the two nations.
Tehran and Baku have sought to expand their ties, specially in trade and economic fields, and signed several cooperation agreements in recent months.
Iranian Minister of Culture and Islamic Guidance Mohammad Hosseini was in Baku in July, 2010, where he met with senior Azeri officials and discussed bilateral ties and cooperation, in cultural fields in particular.
Also, the Azeri deputy prime minister who was in Tehran in March to attend the International Nowrouz Celebrations, said that Azerbaijan has always called for restoration of peace and stability to the region and favors expansion of all-out relations with Iran.
