MMA SEES FIRST WOMAN PRESIDENT
KUALA LUMPUR, May 26 (Bernama) -- Come Friday, Dr Mary Suma Cardosa will become the first woman to be installed president of the Malaysian Medical Association (MMA).
The installation ceremony will be held at the association's 52nd annual general meeting.
According to an MMA statement Wednesday, Dr Cardosa, a senior consultant anaesthesiologist and pain specialist in the health ministry, would take over the helm from Dr David Quek, a consultant cardiologist in private practice.
It said that Dr Cardosa had been a member of the MMA since she was a medical student in Universiti Malaya.
