SEOUL (Yonhap) -- The following is a chronological review of major developments related to North Korea from May 19 to May 25, 2011.

20 The Rodong Sinmun, the paper of North Korea's ruling Workers' Party of Korea (WPK), in an editorial insists on the need for the nation to bolster the pilot sectors of its economy to improve the living standards and build a thriving nation this year.
20 The Rodong Sinmun in an article calls for developing nations to develop their own independent technology to "counter" what it calls the scientific and technological blockade of the "imperialists."
20 Staff members of the Chinese embassy in Pyongyang hold a volunteer work event at the DPRK (North Korea)-China Friendship Thaekam Cooperative Farm.
