Seoul to hold int'l conference for macroeconomic polices

SEOUL, May 26 (Yonhap) -- World-renowned economic experts from home and abroad will gather in Seoul this week to discuss the direction of macroeconomic policy for the world economy following the post-crisis era, a state-run think tank here said Thursday.
They will attend an international conference held by the Korea Development Institute (KDI) on Friday at its building in Seoul. The conference will be organized jointly by Seoul National University, one of the nation's most prestigious schools.
During the one-day event, professors and economists, including Christopher Sims of Princeton University, known for his expertise in macroeconomic policies, will exchange views on fiscal monetary policies along with their impact on inflation in the world economy, it noted.
"We expect the conference will provide a chance to review the impact and limit of emergency measures that have been introduced to cope with the economic downturn following the global financial crisis, while at the same time exploring a new paradigm for macroeconomic policy," the KDI said.
