Brunei King Deeply Eager to Visit Iran

TEHRAN (FNA)- Brunei Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah in a meeting with Iranian Foreign Minister Ali Akbar Salehi underlined that he is strongly willing to visit Tehran in the near future.
"I am looking forward to visiting Iran at a proper time and at the invitation of Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad," Bolkiah said during the meeting in Bandar Seri Begawan, the capital city of Brunei, on Saturday.

He further referred to Iran's astonishing progress and advancements in different scientific and technological fields, and reiterated, "The Islamic Republic of Iran is respected by many world countries, including Brunei."

During the meeting, the two sides also stressed the need for continued consultations and cooperation between Iran and Brunei at international circles and organizations.

Salehi had met with other Brunei officials earlier in the day to explore ways to boost Iran's ties with the Southeast Asian state.

Salehi started a daylong visit to Brunei on Friday evening and was welcomed by the country's Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade II, Lim Jock Seng.

The two ministers later held a meeting in Bandar Seri Begawan and discussed ways to boost the two countries' bilateral ties.

Salehi underlined that the two countries' senior officials are resolved to boost mutual cooperation, and said this resolve should be used to further deepen ties and expand constructive cooperation in line with the interests of the two nations.

He stressed that the two sides enjoy abundant capacities for expanding their cooperation, and said health, tourism and joint investment are among such fields of cooperation.

Lim Jock Seng, for his part, voiced his country's willingness to use Iran's experience in health and medicinal fields.

Salehi's visit came a day after he held a meeting with Brunei's Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade I Mohamed Bolkiah on the sidelines of the ongoing 16th Ministerial Meeting of the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) in Bali, Indonesia.
