VITAL FOR GOVTS TO ADOPT M86 SECURITY TO COUNTER CYBER THREATS
By Tengku Noor Shamsiah Tengku Abdullah
SINGAPORE, May 30 (Bernama) -- Governments and companies in Asia Pacific, including Malaysia, should seriously consider adopting security solutions that will enable them to counter cyber threats and save billions of dollars in losses, says M86, a global expert in real-time Web and e-mail threat protection.
Its Security Chief, Executive Officer John Vigouroux, said agencies and companies, be it small or big, must be aware of preventive measures against the emergence of more sophisticated and real-time cyber crime attacks.
M86 Security, set up in 1995, is the result of a merger and acquisition of four leading network-security companies namely Marshal, 8e6 Technologies, Avinti and Finjan.
Today, it offers industry-acclaimed Web and email security solutions using its patented Real-time Code Analysis™ and behavioural blended threat detection technologies.
"All security companies have tried to do their best to explain how to protect companies and government agencies but they are running a 20-year old strategy," he told Bernama in an interview.
Vigouroux said the current mode of protection used by most companies and governments were insufficient to counter the threats dubbed as a global calamity.
"Bad guys has no boundary, they are very smart. The easiest way for them to make money is through the web, because everything is on the web now whether you are on social media, banking and cyber criminals can attack anytime, anywhere," he added.
Over the past 12 years, M86 spent over US$100 million to develop a product that was the next security evolution, said Vigouroux, adding that cyber crime had cost companies, worldwide, more than US$100 billion annually.
"We believe we have the only product that actually can solve cyber
threats. We are just being respectful and confident that we actually have what's affecting and worries agencies and big companies now.
"We are doing it extremely well, we hope to grow from 30 to 50 per cent by the end of the year, he said.
Vigouroux is on an Asian tour as part of efforts to create greater awareness for M86's solution.
"We have got 25,000 enterprises and 26 million users all over the world. Forty nine per cent of our business is in the Americas, 35 per cent in Europe and about 15 per cent in Asia," he said.
He pointed out that Asia was M86's fastest growing region and "we are making efforts to accelerate its business expansion here with Singapore as the regional headquarters".
