LNSC assesses SEA Games preparations

(KPL) The Lao National Sports Committee (LNSC) has accomplished some preparatory works for the 25th SEA Games so far this year.
Around 80 per cent of construction works of the new football stadium has been achieved so far. The stadium will be used for the opening and closing ceremonies. At the Prime Minister’s Office last Friday, the committee held a meeting on the preparation for the games including the works to be implemented in the last quarter of this year.
The meeting was attended by Standing Deputy Prime Minister and Chairman of the National Organising Committee of the 25th South East Asian Games, Mr. Somsavat Lengsavad, and relevant officials. Mr. Somsavat urged the committee to set detailed plans for mobilising the participation of friendly countries in organising the games. The Vietnamese government has pledged to support the installation of IT systems and electronic equipment at sports venues in Vientiane. It will also fund the construction of sports training centre and athletes’ dormitories.
The national athletes of football, judo, karatedo, wushu, wrestling, pencak silat, swimming and diving are currently training in Vietnam. While those of wushu and shuttlecock will train in China. During the Olympic Games in Beijing, the Lao government officials signed an agreement with their Chinese counterparts on the 25th SEA Games cooperation.
