ASEAN road to complete before planned
VIENTIANE,MAY.(KPL) - More than 200 million baht-ASEAN Road (T2) Improvement project in Vientiane Capital is now 60 per cent completed.
The construction work is expected to be finished before plan was set, said the project owner, Mr. Khamphong Somvichit last week.
“This project started constructing in mid-2010 now the progress is 60 per cent completed,” he said. Adding that the T2 road improve project has undertaken five main works and three sectors. The first sector runs 2,800 m from Akad traffic light to Nongduang traffic light, second from Nongduang traffic light to Phonsa-aat traffic light (2,895 m) and a 300m sector from Phonsa-aat traffic light to the 23 Singha Road.
The T2 Road Improvement Project also covers the construction of Nongduang Park on land 5.3 ha and improves a 478 m-drainage system in Thongsangnang village.
To celebrate the Vientiane 450th anniversary in 2010, the project has so far accelerated on the construction of T2 road and Nongdoung Park in basically.
Presently the three main works for construction of T2 road finished upgrading road surface by filling land, accounting for 55-62 per cent.
The waste drains system along the road has already been laid out and construction of footpath along both sides accounted for 55 per cent compared to the planned.
The T2 road construction project-phase 2 has stressed on upgrading road surface and repairing the crack on road which is now finished over 80 per cent while improve drainage system in Thonsangnang village is now finished 10 per cent.
More than 20 families have been affected by this project, there was a family has been compensated about 300 million kip but some families have contributed development without ignorance of compensation. The project owner said that the project has so far faced difficulties however people in the construction area and living near the construction have paid well cooperation to the project.
The ASEAN road and drainage system project was loaned by Thai Government amounting to 250 million baht.
The construction work is expected to be completed by mid-next year while the plan is set to finish April next year.
