Punjab Leader Calls for All-Out Relations with Iran
TEHRAN (FNA)- Chief Minister of Pakistan's Punjab province Shahbaz Sharif, in a dinner banquet thrown in honor of the visiting Governor-General of Iran's Northeastern Khorassan province, urged stronger ties with Iran in all the various fields, and asked for bolstering cooperation between the two sides.
During the ceremony at Sunday night, Sharif hailed the visit by the Iranian Governor-General, Mahmoud Salahi, and his entourage as a memorable event for his government, Lahorites and people of the whole province.
He said Iran had made tremendous progress in various sectors.
The Iranian delegation was scheduled to visit a meat processing plant in Punjab province. Iran has provided funds for the plant for provision of hygienic meat to the people.
The delegation will also discuss the installation of solar-based systems for electricity generation and establishment of refineries in Pakistan.
Officials said that the Khorassan governor general is also slated to exchange views with Pakistani businessmen to enhance bilateral cooperation between the two countries.
Also on Monday, Salahi and his entourage visited Iqbal's mausoleum.
The Iranian governor placed a floral wreath at the last resting abode of Allama Iqbal, offered Fateha and noted his comments in the visitors book. Later, he visited Badshahi Mosque and Lahore Fort.
