Iranian Armed Forces Stress Leader's Key Role in Foiling Enemy Plot

TEHRAN (FNA)- The General Staff of the Iranian Armed Forces praised the Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei, and stressed that Vellayat-e Faqih (religious leadership) has proved to be the main factor in defusing enemies' plots against the country during the last three decades.
" Vellayat-e Faqih has been the main factor in repelling and defusing enemies' plots in the confrontation against the chain of plots and conspiracies hatched against the Iranian nation and Revolution during the last 33 years (since the victory of 1979 Islamic Revolution)," the Armed Forces said in a statement released on the occasion of the 22nd demise anniversary of the late Founder of the Islamic Republic, Imam Khomeini.

Imam Khomeini passed away on June 3, 1989, ten years after leading the Islamic Revolution that put an end to the Pahlavi regime in 1979.

The statement pointed to the Islamic Revolutions' influence on the recent popular uprisings in the Middle-East and North of Africa, and noted, "…the Islamic Revolution's inspiring and influential power in the Islamic world has now led to awakening and uprising among Muslims, specially in North Africa and Southwest Asia, and established a powerful front under the name of Islam and awakening of the justice-seeking nations against the front of the hegemonic system and the global arrogance."

Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei has on several occasions also underscored the profound and vast influence of Iran's Islamic Revolution on the growing wave of Islamic awakening in the region.

"Thanks to Islam and Islamic Revolution, a public Islamic awakening has happened in the region today, which will definitely yield its results as it has already yielded its results in certain points," Ayatollah Khamenei said, addressing a group of Iranian people here in Tehran in April.

"The more the people's determination, faith and readiness for sacrifice grows, the higher the chances of victory will be," the Leader continued.

In recent months, a wave of revolutions and anti-government uprisings has been sweeping the Arab world.

In January, a revolution in Tunisia ended the 23-year-long ruling of former President Zine El Abidine Ben Ali.

In February, another Arab revolution led to the ouster of former Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak after three decades of his authoritarian rule.

Since then, other revolutions have also erupted in Libya, Yemen and Bahrain, while other anti-government unrests are spreading in Saudi Arabia, Jordan, Oman, Kuwait and Algeria.
