NAJIB TO SHARE INSIGHTS ON SECURITY COOPERATION AT IISS DIALOGUE
KUALA LUMPUR, June 2 (Bernama) -- Prime Minister Najib Razak will share
insights on practical security cooperation and confidence-building programmes,
in response to the current contemporary and emerging security challenges across
the globe, in his keynote address at the opening of the 10th International
Institute for Strategic Studies (IISS) Shangri-La Dialogue in
Singapore Friday.
Also known as the Asia Security Summit, the Shangri-La Dialogue is an annual
forum organised by ISIS since 2002.
The Dialogue, from June 3-5, will bring together representatives of its 28
member countries from the Asia-Pacific region and Europe.
Among the dignitaries expected to attend the event include the President of
Timor-Leste as well as the Ministers of Defence from Australia, China,
Indonesia, Japan, Malaysia, the Russian Federation, Singapore and the United
States.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs in a statement here Thursday said while in
Singapore on the working visit on Friday, Najib will hold bilateral meetings
with the republic's Acting Prime Minister Teo Chee Hean and United States
Defence Secretary, Robert Gates.
