Kuwait ties with ILO deep-rooted, historic -- official

GENEVA, June 2 (KUNA) -- Kuwait's relations with International Labor Organization (ILO) is historic and deep rooted, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs Mohammad Al-Kanderi said.
He added in remarks to KUNA on the celebration of ILO anniversary that Kuwait is a pioneer for supporting recommendations of ILO and participating in its events and conferences.
Kuwait ratified most of the organization's agreements, and it is committed to them since its establishment in 1960, he added.
Kuwait has abided by the values and principles of ILO, like offering social security and adequate standards for living, he affirmed.
"Our country is keen on taking care of its citizens namely cases of elderly, sickness, and incapacity to work, besides offering social and medical care," he stated.
Al-Kan deri said Kuwait has continuously offered financial aid to the ILO programs, especially in regions like the Palestinian territories.
Kuwait, moreover, established a fund of small and medium projects to improve the living standards, and tackle unemployment in Arab nations -- during the Arab economic summit held in Kuwait in 2009.
This was achieved upon an initiative by His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah.
Kuwait is participating in the ILO annual celebration with a high-level delegation, headed by Minister of Justice, and Minister of Social Affairs and Labor, Dr. Mohammad Al-Afasi, and Kuwait's permanent delegate to the United Nations UN, ambassador Dharar Razzouqi, besides others.(
