MERCY MALAYSIA DONATES MEDICAL EQUIPMENT TO LIBYA

KUALA LUMPUR, June 2 (Bernama) -- Mercy Malaysia donated medical equipment
worth RM45,000 (US$15,000) to health institutions during its recent mission to
Libya.

"A total of US$15,000 was spent on the equipment and supplies which were
purchased in Egypt to minimise logistical costs," its president, Dr Ahmad
Faizal Mohd Perdaus, said in a statement.

He said that prior to the donation, Mercy Malaysia had sent two medical
teams to Libya.

He said the first team comprising nurses had safely returned to Malaysia on
May 16 after a three-week mission.

The second team had just completed their mission, he said.

Dr Ahmad Faizal added that Mercy Malaysia was currently exploring various
options to continue serving humanitarian needs in Libya.
