Belarus restricts import of livestock products from Lithuania,
MINSK, June 4 (Itar-Tass) -- Belarus on Friday introduced temporary
restrictions on the import of livestock farming products from certain
regions of Lithuania, Russia and Germany, the press service of the
Ministry of Agriculture and Food said.
On instructions from the department of veterinary and food supervision
the Belarusian Agriculture Ministry imposed a temporary ban on the import
of pork, live pigs, wild boars, feed, feed additives, as well as used
equipment for keeping, slaughtering and butchering pigs from the Tver
Region of Russia.
A similar ban was imposed on pork, live pigs, hunting trophies,
fodder, hides and skins from the territory of the Kaunas district of
Lithuania.
These decisions were taken after cases of African and classical swine
fever were recorded in the Tver region and Kaunas district.
The ban on the importation from the territory of Germany's federal
land of North Rhine-Westphalia of live birds, hatching eggs, fluff and
feathers, poultry and all poultry products was introduced after cases of
low pathogenic avian influenza there.
