Turkey questions former coup leader Evren

ANKARA (A.A) - 06.06.2011 - Turkish prosecutors questioned on Monday retired military chief Kenan Evren, who led the coup in 1980 and then became president, in an investigation into the 1980 military coup in Turkey.
Evren's lawyer Omer Nihat Ozgun replied to questions by reporters, saying that prosecutors asked 12 questions about the military coup to Evren during interrogation that lasted for two and a half hours at his residence in Ankara.
Ozgun said that prosecutors would also question senior military figure of the 1980 military coup Tahsin Sahinkaya, the then Air Forces Commander, in Istanbul on Wednesday within the scope of the same investigation.
