Iran: Yemeni People Not to Allow Foreign Interference

TEHRAN (FNA)- The Iranian Foreign Ministry stressed on Monday that the Yemeni people will not allow foreigners to meddle in the internal affairs of their country.
The Islamic Republic of Iran believes politically mature Yemeni people will never permit alien sides to interfere in decision makings on their behalf, Foreign Ministry Spokesman Ramin Mehman-Parast said.

"The Yemeni people have had a serious presence at their country's political and social scenes demanding the restoration of their legitimate rights and they have suffered dearly in the path towards the restoration of those demands," he added.

"The status quo of events in that country shows that sufficient and appropriate responses to the people's demands have by no means been given yet to the Yemeni nation by the system," Mehman-Parast reiterated.

Mehman-Parast also expressed certainty that the entire social classes in Yemen, particularly the Yemeni political parties, the heads of Yemeni tribes, the elites, the personalities and the thinkers would maintain highly alert and conscientious, and they would resort to unity of ideas and strategies in their bid to materialize their legitimate demands and thus they would take their next steps in their revolutionary movement resolutely.

Protesters in Yemen are celebrating the fall of the Yemeni dictatorial regime after President Ali Abdullah Saleh escaped to Saudi Arabia.

Saleh, who was wounded in an attack on his compound, flew on Saturday to Saudi Arabia for medical treatment and Vice President Abduraboo Mansur Hadi has taken over Saleh's duties.

The Saudi royal court said on Sunday that Saleh arrived in Saudi Arabia along with other top Yemeni officials to be treated for wounds they suffered in Friday's rocket attack on the presidential palace.

Hundreds of thousands of people have turned out for near daily demonstrations in Yemen's major cities since late January, calling for an end to corruption and unemployment and demanding the ouster of Saleh, who has been in office since 1978
