Iran Offers to Host Asian IPU Meeting in 2013

TEHRAN (FNA)- Iran on Tuesday voiced preparedness to host the 2013 General Assembly meeting of the Asia-Pacific Inter-Parliamentary Union in Tehran.
Iran's proposal to host the Asia-Pacific IPU General Assembly meeting was presented by the Iranian delegation participating in the 15th Asia-Pacific IPU General Assembly meeting underway in Malaysia and is due to be reviewed during the current meeting.

Also during the meeting which kicked off work on Tuesday morning, the members of the Asia-Pacific Inter-Parliamentary Union also approved membership of Iran's representative in the committee which is tasked with drafting the final statement of the meeting.

Another Iranian envoy to the meeting, Mohammad Reza Tabesh, also addressed the participants in the meeting on climate change and global warming, certain countries' attempts to make economic progress regardless of environmental hazards and concerns, Washington's refusal to join Kyoto protocol and etc.

The meeting will end its work on Wednesday after issuing a final statement.
