Medvedev to initiate at RF-EU summit nuclear energy issues

MOSCOW, June 9 (Itar-Tass) -- Russia's President Dmitry Medvedev will
raise during the Russia-EU summit issues of development of nuclear energy
and the EU Third Energy Package, Presidential Aide Sergei Prikhodko told
reporters on the eve of the event due in Nizhny Novgorod on June 9-10.
"On the background of political instability in some regions of the
world, cooperation in energy is of special importance," he said. "Russia
will in future continue to prove its position of a stable and reliable
supplier of energy resources without damaging Russian companies."
"At the initiative of the Russian side, the summit will discuss
settlement of the problems, connected with the EU Third Energy Package,
where they /Europeans/ limit gas supplies, connecting them to
infrastructure projects," he said.
"Europeans should be more interested in building energy supplies from
Russia, than Russia itself, especially lately," Medvedev said.
The Russian delegation will continue the discussion of Russia's
initiatives in nuclear energy, which were supported at the G8 summit in
Deauville in late May.
"We are interested in further development of nuclear energy, so that
objects are more secure, and we are prepared to make our input," Prikhodko
said. He is sorry that Russian companies "experience certain limitations
as their suggestions on construction of objects and on fuel supplies are
being considered."
"We wish the cooperation continued and no new obstacles arose there,"
Prikhodko said.
