EMERCOM to evacuate Russians willing to leave Yemen

MOSCOW, June 10 (Itar-Tass) - Russia's Ministry for Emergency
Situations and Civil Defense /EMERCOM/ dispatches two jets to Yemen Friday
to evacuate all the Russian citizens willing to leave the country that
plunged into a turmoil, EMERCOM's department for public relations and
information said Friday.
"At the instruction of the government, EMERCOM is sending two
Ilyushin-62 jets to Yemen," a spokesman said. "They are expected to take
off today."
Seats aboard will be provided to the Russians who have made known
their wish to leave to Russia.
Alexander Lukashevich, an official spokesman for the Russian Foreign
Ministry said earlier the Russian Federation had evacuated the families of
its diplomats from the Yemeni capital Sanaa.
He did not rule out the possibility of "extra measures to ensure the
safety and security of the Russians stranded in Yemen right now.
"The situation in Yemen remains quite tense," Lukashevich said.
"President Ali Abdullah Salekh, who was wounded as a result of an
assassination attempt July 3 has left for Saudi Arabia to take a course of
medical treatment there and his duties are provisionally performed by the
Vice-President."
"A truce between the sides took effect as of June 5 and it has helped
reduce the tensions between the conflicting sides a little," he said.
