BEIJING, June 10 (Itar-Tass) - The Russia-China summit in Moscow will
draw up the guidelines for the upcoming decade to step up bilateral
relations, China's President Hu Jintao said in an exclusive interview with
Itar-Tass and the Rossiyskaya Gazeta daily.
The Chinese leader will go to Russia on a state visit on June 15-18.
"During the visit I plan to negotiate with President Medvedev and meet
with Prime Minister Putin. This year marks the 10th anniversary of the
treaty of good neighbourliness, friendship and cooperation between China
and Russia," he said. "During the talks we will define the areas of
cooperation for further development of Chinese-Russian relations for the
upcoming decade and single out programs of cooperation between China and
Russia in different sectors."
Hu Jintao underlined that there will be a substantial exchange of
opinions with the Russian authorities on pressing international and
regional issues of mutual interest.
He expressed confidence that the visit "will give a fresh impetus to
consecutive, sound and stable development of Chinese-Russian strategic
partnership for the second decade of new century."
The Chinese leader also noted that "over the past ten years bilateral
relations between China and Russia achieved an unprecedentedly high level
rapidly developing on a sound basis in all directions." This is clearly
proved by the fact that "a perfect mechanism of high-level contacts was
created and within its framework the two countries' leaders maintain close
relations and regular meetings."
Moreover, "border issues that remained in history had been finalized,"
he said adding that "practical interaction in trade, economic, energy,
scientific and technical sectors as well as successful interregional
cooperation" develop.

large-scale events as the Year of Friendship between Chinese and Russian
Youth, cross-cultural years and the years of Chinese and Russian
languages, which contributed to dynamic development of Chinese-Russian
humanitarian relations in education, culture, healthcare, physical
culture, mass media and tourism."
"China and Russia support close strategic interaction in most
important international and regional affairs, which is needed for
protection of common interests and assistance to building the multipolar
world order and democratization of international relations," he said.
