Increasing bilateral trade with Russia achievable task - China's Hu

BEIJING, June 10 (Itar-Tass) - China's President Hu Jintao has
expressed confidence that the task of increasing Russian-Chinese trade to
100 billion U.S. dollars within three-five years is quite achievable.
He will go to Russia on a state visit on June 15-18.
"In 2010 the bilateral trade reached 60 billion U.S. dollars," he said
in an exclusive interview with Itar-Tass and the Rossiyskaya Gazeta daily.
"China is in the top of Russia's foreign trade list. Investment, economic
and technological cooperation evidently speeds up as well as border and
interregional cooperation develops dynamically."
"Last November President Medvedev set the task of increasing our
bilateral trade to 100 billion U.S. dollars within three-five years," the
Chinese leader said. "Judging by the current development trends I can say
that this is quite possible. Moreover, the parties are also setting the
task for trade cooperation for the upcoming decade. The Chinese side is
ready together with Russia to deepen economic exchange and cooperation in
order to promote bilateral trade and economic cooperation in all
parameters - on a scale and quality."
Of late "a trend for faster development of mutual investments is
reported and the number of projects of economic and technological
cooperation is growing," Hu Jintao said. "In 2009 the plan for
Chinese-Russian investment cooperation and the program for cooperation
between regions of Northeast China and Russia's Far East and Eastern
Siberia (2009-2018) were approved."
The Chinese president also called for strengthening cooperation in
energy, agriculture and other sectors of economy. He especially stressed
the need for stimulating the two countries' financial structures and
creating more favourable conditions for financing bilateral projects.
