Speaker Terms West's Plot to Undermine Islamic Awakening "Futile"

TEHRAN (FNA)- Iranian Parliament Speaker Ali Larijani stressed that the West's plots to undermine the ongoing wave of awakening in the region will remain futile due to the vigilance of the regional nations.
Larijani, who is in the Indonesian for an official visit, warned that the enemies seek to prevent Muslims from making further progress through divisive plots.

The US and its allies would not succeed to obtain their objectives because Muslims are awakened and will foil their conspiracies, Larijani stated.

He pointed to the revolutions in Tunisia, Libya, Egypt, Yemen and Bahrain and said, "The movements indicate the Muslims' awakening because they seek to determine their own destiny and to free themselves from the yoke of dictators."

In recent months, a wave of revolutions and anti-government uprisings has been sweeping the Arab world.

In January, a revolution in Tunisia ended the 23-year ruling of former President Zine El Abidine Ben Ali.

In February, another Arab revolution led to the ouster of former Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak after three decades of his authoritarian rule.

Other revolutions later erupted in Libya, Yemen and Bahrain, while other anti-government unrests are growing in Saudi Arabia, Jordan, Oman, Kuwait and somehow Algeria.
