Constellation of RF festival to help forge RF-Italy friendly ties
ROME, June 13 (Itar-Tass) -- Russian President Dmitry Medvedev sent a
message of greetings to the participants and guests of the Constellation
of Russia festival, which was held in the Italian capital on Sunday
evening in the attendance of Rome Mayor Gianni Alemanno and Italian top
officials.
"It is symbolic that right on this day, when Russia celebrates its
national holiday, Italians acquainted with the diversity of the culture of
our country, watched the performances of famous art companies, which
represent Russian multinational culture," the president said in the
message, which the chief of the Federal Agency for the Affairs of the CIS
States, Compatriots Living Abroad and International Humanitarian
Cooperation Farid Mukhametshin read out to the festival. Dmitry Medvedev
expressed hope that "the current festival will help forge friendly
relations between Russia and Italy."
For his part, Alemanno noted that "Russians and Italians are emotional
peoples that is expressed in the music." "Culture is a basis of any
relations. Today on Russian national holiday Rome opens out its arms to
Russia, and we are happy about this friendship," Alemanno said in his
welcome speech to numerous guests and the spectators, who gathered for the
festival on the central Rome square Navona.
The Constellation of Russia Festival brought together such outstanding
Russian companies as the I.A. Moiseyev State Academic Folkdance Ensemble,
the M.E. Pyatnitsky State Academic Russian Folk Choir, the Chechen State
Dance Company Vainakh, the State Ensemble of Song and Dance of the
Republic of Tatarstan, Kalmykia's State Ensemble of Song and Dance Tulpan
(Tulip), the State Academic Ensemble of Folkdance of the Republic of
Bashkortostan, the State Academic Northern Folk Choir and the State
Academic Koryak National Ensemble of Dance Mengo.
The Constellation of Russia gala concert was organized by the Federal
Agency for the Affairs of the CIS States, Compatriots Living Abroad and
International Humanitarian Cooperation under the Gazprom partnership
support and is timed to the ongoing Year of Russia in Italy.
