Iran to Host NAM Meeting Next Summer
TEHRAN (FNA)- A senior Iranian foreign ministry official announced on Sunday that Tehran is scheduled to host the next Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) summit meeting in summer 2012.
Addressing the opening session of a conference on nuclear disarmament in Tehran today, Deputy Foreign Minister for Legal and International Affairs Mohammad Mehdi Akhoundzadeh reminded Iran's presidency over the Non-Aligned Movement, and said Tehran is due to host an upcoming meeting of the international block in the near future.
"The next international conference of the NAM member states will be held in Tehran next summer," he said.
The NAM member-states have repeatedly supported Iran's nuclear drive.
NAM, which has 118 member states, is an international organization of states considering themselves not formally aligned with or against any major power bloc.
