EAST COAST STATE TO BUILD 30-STOREY TWIN TOWERS

KUALA TERENGGANU (Terengganu, Malaysia), June 13 (Bernama) -- The state government of East Coast state of Terengganu plans to build a 30-storey twin tower on a 40-acre lot here under the 10th Malaysia Plan.

State Secretary Mazlan Ngah said the twin towers would house the Kuala Terengganu City Council and Terengganu Foundation.

"The state government had approved it in principle under the 10th Malaysia Plan," he told reporters after launching the Terengganu Foundation strategic plan, here Monday.

He said, Terengganu Foundation was the first statutory body in the country to have such a programme with the National Archives.

The programme would focus on educational needs of the state particularly in the field of medicine.

The foundation would fund 150 candidates to study medicine in countries such as Egypt, Russia, Ireland and Indonesia.
