Chinese Envoy Surprised at Iran's Giant Progress in Post-Revolution Era
TEHRAN (FNA)- Chinese ambassador to Tehran hailed Iran's advancements, and said he is surprised at the country's eye-catching progress during the era after the 1979 Islamic Revolution.
"The Islamic Republic of Iran's eye-catching progress in the post-revolution era is surprising due to the country's independence in scientific grounds," Yu Hung Yang told Iranian Justice Minister Seyed Morteza Bakhtiyari in a meeting here in Tehran on Monday.
He further voiced Beijing's full preparedness to expand bilateral ties and cooperation with Iran in all the various areas, saying, "We would like to discuss expansion of ties in every (possible) field."
He said his country's justice minister plans to visit Iran in the next few months, and expressed the hope that the Chinese minister could reach final agreements with Bakhtiyari over the two countries' cooperation in judicial fields.
Iran is currently China's third largest supplier of crude oil, providing China with roughly 12% of its total annual oil consumption needs - nearly one million barrels per day.
The volume of Iran's trade with China stood at about $30 billion in 2010, and the two countries have sought to enhance their bilateral trade ties significantly.
