Turkish Airlines cancels flights to Africa after Eritera volcano eruption
ISTANBUL (A.A) - June 14, 2011 - Turkish Airlines, or THY, has cancelled its flights to some destinations due to volcanic ash cloud in Eritrea.
THY said Tuesday it cancelled its Istanbul-Khartoum-Istanbul, Istanbul-Addis Ababa, Istanbul-Entebbe-Istanbul and Istanbul-Nairobi, Darussalam-Nairobi-Istanbul flights.
THY said they would continue to monitor volcanic activities and give information accordingly.
The Dubbi volcano, in the Southern Red Sea Region, erupted on Sunday. It sent an ash plume high into the sky, disrupting air traffic in the region.
THY said Monday it cancelled flights to Nairobi, Entebbe and Addis Ababa.
