Turkish government to resign late Tuesday to give way to the new one after elections
ANKARA (A.A) - June 14, 2011 - Turkey's prime minister said on Tuesday that the government would present its resignation to the president later in the day.
Premier Recep Tayyip Erdogan said the cabinet would present its resignation to President Abdullah Gul later on Tuesday.
"After we submit our resignation, the president is expected to request us to go on ruling the country until the new cabinet is formed," Erdogan told cabinet members during the last meeting of the 60th government.
Erdogan's Justice & Development (AK) Party won 49.81 percent of votes in Sunday's elections, and thus has gained 326 seats at the 550-seat parliament.
