30 forest fires extinguished in Siberia in past 24 hours.

KRASNOYARSK, June 15 (Itar-Tass) -- About 30 forest fires on an
overall area of 17,213 hectares have been put out in Russia's Siberian
regions in the past 24 hours, a spokesman for the regional emergencies
centre told Itar-Tass on Wednesday.
Sixty nine wildfires on an area of 10,888 hectares have been
contained, the spokesman noted and added that by Wednesday morning as many
as 181 wildfires were still raging on an area of 23,615 hectares.
According to the spokesman, the situation in the Krasnoyarsk territory
and the Irkutsk region, which imposed a state of emergency, has
considerable improved. The number of big fires there has been brought down
from 23 to 18, while the fire area has reduced by half, from 30,746
hectares to 15,196 hectares.
As many as 5,117 and 730 units of hardware were involved in fire
fighting operations in the past day. A total of 424 tons of water were
discharged from fire fighting aircraft.
