MALAYSIAN COMPANIES LAND NEW BUSINESS VIA SOCIAL MEDIA
Fifty one per cent of Malaysian companies have been successful in securing new business through social networking activities last year, according to the findings of a global survey conducted by Regus, a Belgium-based workplace solutions provider.
The survey, based on responses from over 17,000 managers and business owners across 80 countries, also revealed 68 per cent of businesses in Malaysia used websites such as Twitter to engage, connect and inform existing customers.
"In Malaysia, 75 per cent of firms encouraged their employees to join social networks such as Linkedin, Xing and Video compared with 53 per cent, globally.
"Fifty two per cent of companies in Malaysia devote up to 20 per cent of their marketing budget to business social networking activities," said Regus in a statement Wednesday.
It added that social networking has becomes a necessity as it has helped 88 per cent of businesses in Malaysia to be successful.
