Kazan to host int'l conference under FISU auspices

KAZAN (Itar-Tass) - An international conference on the
university sport movement titled "Sport. Education. Culture" will be held
in Kazan, Tatarstan, on June 16-19 under the auspices of the International
University Sports Federation (FISU).
FISU President George Killian, Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov,
and Russian Olympic Committee Executive Director Marat Bariyev will attend
the event.
The presidents of the national university sport federations,
representatives of the FISU Continental Associations, officials from the
Russian Ministry of Sport, Education and Science Ministry, and renowned
athletes will participate in the conference as well.
"The purpose of the conference is to study international and Russian
experience of organising university sport, discuss the main trends in the
development of the university sport movement in the world. It is planned
that the forum's participants will discuss the training of qualified
specialists for international university sport and educational projects,"
Kazan-2013 Executive Director Vladimir Leonov said.
Special attention will be paid to organising World University Games,
as well as the legislative, organisational, administrative, and economic
framework for university sport.
A FISU international educational centre built for Unioversiade-2013,
to be held in Kazan, will be presented during the conference. It will
train qualified specialists for world university sport and consulting
support to major university sport projects.
An agreement of cooperation will be signed between the Russian
University Sport Union and the Eurasian Association of Universities.
