UKM TO REPRESENT MALAYSIA AT CIMA GBC 2011 IN CHENGDU NEXT MONTH

KUALA LUMPUR (Bernama) - Team Agilis from Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM) has won Malaysia's local round of the 3rd Global Business Challenge (GBC).

This takes them to the global final that will be held in Chengdu, China, on July 23-24.

"The global final promises to be a thrilling event with 17 teams competing on an international stage for the title of Global Champions," the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA) said in a statement Thursday.

The CIMA GBC 2011 is an international business management competition designed to bring out the best in potential business leaders among undergraduates.

Other competitors in Chengdu are the winning teams from Australia,
Bangladesh, China, Hong Kong, India, Ireland, the Middle East, Pakistan, the Philippines, Russia, Vietnam, Indonesia, Singapore, South Africa, Sri Lanka and the UK.

There, they will present a business case to an audience of CIMA delegates and a judging panel of prestigious experts who will pick the winning team.

The business case centres around CeeCee, a global retail fashion company that faces a number of issues concerning the future direction and stability of the company.

CIMA said that at the Malaysian round which took place on June 11, Team Agilis beat 29 rival teams.

The first runner-up was Team Horizon from TAR College while third place went to Team Underdogs from HELP University.
