HDC TO DEVELOP NATIONAL HALAL LOGISTICS PLAYERS

KUALA LUMPUR (Bernama) - Halal Industry Development Corp (HDC) plans to build knowledge and develop national halal logistics players in conformity with the requirements of Malaysia Standard on 2400 series.

In a statement Thursday, its chief executive officer, Jamil Bidin, said this initiative was a value proposition that would increase the industry player's competitive advantage, which in the long term support the growth of Malaysia as a global halal hub.

"Achieving Halalan Toyyiban success in transportation, warehousing and retailing is the intention, bringing the entire logistics system from farm to table into the spotlight," he said.

Halalan Toyyiban is a form of assurance that the halal concept is
deep-rooted, cohesive, thorough and integrated in practice and application.

Jamil said this in his speech at the 'Malaysia Standard on 2400 Series Halal Logistics -- Standard Perspective' seminar here Thursday.

He said HDC would assist any logistics-related company or entrepreneur keen to develop their businesses along the Halalan Toyyiban lines.

"To this effect, training programmes on the subject have largely featured on HDC's agenda this year.

"Once equipped with the right knowledge and information, participants are able to realise the many opportunities and benefits in the halal supply chain, making it a winning formula all round," he said.

The seminar attracted some 250 participants.
