Euay made sports history in Laos: First Lao to win medal at Beijing Paralympic

(KPL) Euay Simay is the first Lao athlete to have won a medal at the Paralympics held in China. The Lao weightlifter won the bronze medal for lifting 157 kg in the 48 kg category for men, during the first day of the weightlifting competition in Beijing.
“For my win at this Paralympic Games I would like to express my thanks to my coach Mr Oudom Vilaysack, who trained me, to the Lao National Paralympic Committee and to the host country, China. She has given golden opportunities to the Lao athletes with her perfect organization of this Paralympic,” said Mr Euay during the press conference in Beijing, just after his win on 9 September.
Euay also won medals at other Paragames, a silver medal in Vietnam in 2003 and another silver in Thailand in 2007.
