Chinese young people to get religious education in Turkey
ANKARA (A.A) - June 17, 2011 - Chinese young people will get religious education in Turkey.
The head of Turkey's Religious Affairs Directorate, Mehmet Gormez, will travel to China on Sunday on a five-day formal visit.
Gormez will sign a protocol in China, envisaging that Chinese young people get religious education in Turkey.
The protocol will also enable student exchange between the two countries. Accordingly, Turkish students can go to China to learn languages, and religious services for Muslims will be boosted in China.
Earlier, Gormez had met Hui Muslims in China and invited Hilaluddin Chen Guangyuan, the president of China Islamic Association, to Turkey.
It was the first formal visit by the head of China Islamic Association to Turkey. During his visit, Gormez and Guangyuan agreed to boost relations and exchange students.
During his visit to China, Gormez is expected to meet religious authorities.
Gormez will be the first director of Turkish Religious Affairs Department ever to pay a formal visit to China.
