MORE TAIWANESE FOOD PRODUCTS FOUND TAINTED WITH DEHP
KUALA LUMPUR, June 18 (Bernama) -- Strawberry Syrup manufactured by T & M
Resources Corporation of Taiwan and imported by Elegant Solution Trading has
been found to be contaminated with Di (2-ethylhexyl) Phthalate (DEHP).
Health Minister Liow Tiong Lai said today that the syrup had been
distributed to shops and kiosks selling "bubble tea" in Klang Valley.
The Ministry had also received information from the Centre for Food Safety
in Hong Kong that several other food products from Taiwan were suspected of
DEHP contamination, he added in a statement.
They are brown sugar flavoured Chuang's Square Cookies, all wheat, almond
and sesame Chuang's King Tai Chang Food Co Ltd cookies imported by Syarikat
Nguan Seng (1990) Sdn Bhd and Natural Beauty Drink Powder, Natural Beauty Fruit
and Vegetable Powder by Prince Pharmaceutical Co Ltd imported by Billion Synergy
Sdn Bhd.
He said the ministry had ordered the importers to recall the products
immediately, and shops to cease selling them, and advised people who had bought
the items not to consume them.
Liow also confirmed the following suspected Taiwanese food items were found
to be clear of DEHP after analysis.
They are New Choice Pudding and eight items under the Oriyen brand (Cosway)
which are Oriyen Fibre Full Candy, Oriyen American Ginseng Pastills, Oriyen
Extra Cool Fresh Mints, Oriyen Pei Pa Luo Han Guo, Oriyen Hi-Calcium Yoghurt
Chews, Oriyen Mixed Vinegar, Oriyen D'tox Trimm, Oriyen Cranberry Chewable
Tablets and Kinohimitsu Japan D'tox Juice .
Ten other items cleared are Ho Egg Noodle, Singlong brand; Hoi brand
Dried Noodle, Fu ssu Noodle and White Jade Noodle; Greenmax Matcha Milk, Mic's
Lemon Wafer; Fu Yi Shan Oat Cracker; Regimen House Sesame
and Grainy Thin Cracker and Sun Chi brand Song Hua Ban Noodles.
Lychee Syrup, Honey Peach Syrup and Black Tea imported by Elegant Solution
Trading, and 100% Cranberry & Blueberry Blend Juice and Power Bifidus Yogurt
Drink imported by United Kanboo (M) Sdn Bhd had also been cleared.
