Iran Blames Foreign Forces for Insecurity in Afghanistan

TEHRAN (FNA)- Iranian Defense Minister Brigadier General Ahmad Vahidi took the trans-regional forces deployed in Afghanistan responsible for the expansion of insecurities in the war-torn country.
Speaking at a meeting with his Afghan counterpart Abdulrahim Vardak in Kabul on Saturday, Vahidi voiced concerned about the dangerous presence of trans-regional states in the sensitive and strategic region.
"Their presence hinders materialization of the will of the great, hard-working and resolved nation of Afghanistan and will cause discord, tension and insecurity and waste of the country's capital," Vahidi added.
As regards Iran-Afghanistan ties, Vahidi said that the two countries' relations way beyond diplomatic ties, given the two nations' common language and religion.
Vardak, for his part, voiced pleasure in Vahidi's visit to Kabul, and praised Iran's continued support for the Afghan people.
The minister said the sole way to establish durable security in Afghanistan lies in enabling the country to make use of its capabilities and capacities.
Vahidi, heading a high ranking defense delegation, arrived in Kabul on Saturday morning and is to meet with Afghanistan's high-ranking political and defense officials to discuss bilateral, regional and international issues.
It is the first ever visit of an Iranian defense minister to Afghanistan after the victory of Islamic revolution in Iran.
Also it is also the first ever visit of an Iranian defense minister to Afghanistan since 92 years ago.
Iran and Afghanistan enjoy expanding ties and cooperation and observers believe that the good achievements gained in area of their mutual cooperation should be deemed as a result of the efforts made by the two countries' officials.
