Envoy: Iran Eager to Develop Economic Cooperation with Algeria

TEHRAN (FNA)- Iranian Ambassador to Algeria Mahmoud Mohammadi in a meeting with Algerian Industry and Technology Minister Muhammad bin Moradi underlined Tehran's enthusiasm for the further enhanced economic cooperation with the North African country.
During the meeting on Saturday, the Iranian ambassador also gave a proposal to establish a joint investment development committee and build a joint industrial city.

Moradi, for his part, said that his country is willing to further expand cooperation with the Islamic Republic of Iran.

He referred to the current economic cooperation between the two countries in the fields of automaking, railway and cement industries, and said that unfortunately the opportunities have not been seized in the recent years.

In November, Iran and Algeria signed 10 agreements for cooperation in various fields during Iran-Algeria High Joint Commission in the Iranian capital, Tehran, and reiterated the need to bolster bilateral trade, which currently stands at about $150 million annually.
