South Korean actor Ryu Si-won wins auto race in China

SEOUL, June 20 (Yonhap) -- South Korean actor-singer Ryu Si-won won an auto racing event in China over the weekend, his racing team here said Monday.
Ryu finished first at the Ferrari Challenge Race in Zhuhai, a southern Chinese city, EXR Team 106 said.
The local importer of Ferrari, Forza Motors Korea (FMK), sponsored Ryu's entry into the race and signed him on as its corporate pitchman.
Ryu took the pole position and then finished second in the first race and first in the second leg to grab the title.
Ryu, the manager of EXR Team 106, has been dabbling in auto racing for 14 years and founded his own team in 2009.
"This was a good experience, and I am pleased to win it as a representative for my country," Ryu said. "I'd like to thank my Chinese fans for coming out to the airport and to the tracks to support me."
The Ferrari Challenge was launched in 1993 and has had races in Europe and North America. This is the first time that the series came to the Asia-Pacific region, and Ryu is set to enter another challenge race in Shanghai next month.
The 38-year-old has enjoyed a steady acting career in South Korea since the mid-1990s, and has issued nearly a dozen best-selling studio albums and singles in Japan.
