MALAYSIAN KING RECEIVES COURTESY CALL FROM SINGAPORE PRESIDENT

KUALA LUMPUR, June 20 (Bernama) -- The King of Malaysia Tuanku Mizan Zainal
Abidin received a courtesy call from Singapore President S.R.Nathan at National
Palace here Monday.

Also present was Singapore High Commissioner to Malaysia T. Jasudasen.

In April 1988, Nathan was appointed Singapore' High Commissioner to Malaysia
and in July 1990, he became Ambassador to the United States of America where he
served until June 1996.

Nathan was elected President of the Republic of Singapore on August 18, 1999
and he began his six-year term from September 1, 1999.

On August 17, 2005, he was re-elected and sworn-in for his second term of
office on September 1, 2005.
